SiteGround Launches AI App Builder for SMBs

Web hosting platform SiteGround has launched Coderick AI, a new tool designed to help small businesses build custom applications without technical expertise. The AI-powered builder aims to remove the high cost and complexity typically associated with custom software development.

The launch of Coderick AI positions SiteGround, a web hosting company founded in 2004, in the rapidly growing no-code and low-code application development market. The company, which hosts over 3 million domains and migrated its infrastructure to Google Cloud in 2020, is expanding beyond its traditional hosting services. This move reflects a broader trend of hosting providers evolving into more comprehensive digital platforms. Coderick AI's primary differentiator is its "all-in-one" approach, bundling the application builder with SiteGround's established hosting, security, and customer support infrastructure. Unlike many AI builders that provide code or layouts and leave the user to handle deployment, Coderick AI manages the entire process from creation to going live in a single workflow. This integrated system includes features like version control, user authentication, and automatic deployment with every plan. The tool is designed for a range of users, from entrepreneurs building a minimum viable product to agencies developing client websites. It employs a "vibe coding" method where users describe their needs in natural language, and the AI generates the application. SiteGround emphasizes an iterative building process, encouraging users to create and refine features one step at a time for more stable and scalable results. SiteGround offers a 14-day free trial for Coderick AI, which includes a limited number of credits and projects. Paid plans are structured in tiers, such as the "Essential" plan at $10 per month (billed annually), offering more credits, a single project, and 3GB of storage. Higher-tier plans increase the number of projects, storage, and available credits. This launch places SiteGround in competition with established no-code platforms like Bubble, known for its powerful backend logic, and Appy Pie, which focuses on simplicity and speed for business apps. However, SiteGround is betting that integrating the builder directly with its two decades of hosting experience will offer a more seamless and secure solution for small businesses and agencies.
