A new Broadway preview to watch

The musical The Fear of 13 has been in previews at the James Earl Jones Theatre and is slated to officially open on April 15, 2026 — a fresh, unconventional entry on Broadway this spring. (playbill.com) It’s being noted as part of a wave of bold narratives reshaping the season. (playbill.com)

Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson headline the Broadway company, each making their Broadway debuts with Brody reprising the role that earned him an Olivier Award nomination during the play’s Donmar Warehouse premiere. (playbill.com) The piece was written by Lindsey Ferrentino and on Broadway is directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer, with Bryan Carter credited as musical supervisor and arranger and Arnulfo Maldonado as scenic designer. (ibdb.com) The production adapts David Sington’s 2015 documentary about Nick Yarris, who spent 22 years on death row before DNA evidence led to his exoneration, and Yarris is credited on the Broadway production as a story consultant. (en.wikipedia.org) (playbill.com) The play had its world premiere at London’s Donmar Warehouse in October 2024 and both the production and Brody received Olivier Award nominations following that run. (broadway.com) The Broadway engagement is scheduled to conclude July 12, 2026, according to Broadway production records and theatre listings. (ibdb.com) (tdf.org) The production has announced a formal partnership with the Innocence Project, including special‑edition merchandise with a portion of proceeds supporting the organization’s work, and tickets on major outlets are listed starting around $59.95.
