Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods has recalled six refrigerated products sold in Richmond-area stores and other retail locations after aluminum slivers were linked to baking pans used in production. The Richmond, Virginia, company said July 30 that it was voluntarily recalling certain baked spaghetti, chicken cobbler and bread pudding items. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration posted the company’s notice on August 1, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a separate recall alert on July 31 for the meat-containing products. No injuries had been reported in either notice. The company said a small sliver of aluminum was found during a routine review, and that a similar metal fragment was identified in a chicken cobbler product the previous day. FSIS said the problem was also discovered after the company received a consumer complaint about a metal piece found in a fully cooked product.
