Jill Scott Hits No. 1 at R&B Radio
Jill Scott's single "Pressha" climbed to No. 1 at R&B radio, reinforcing her continued impact on the genre. The song's ascent demonstrates Scott's enduring appeal with both listeners and industry insiders. This marks a major milestone for the neo-soul legend's latest era.
"Pressha" is the second single from Jill Scott's sixth studio album, "To Whom This May Concern," which was released on February 13, 2026. The album marks her first full-length project in over a decade, following 2015's "Woman." In a recent interview, Scott explained the hiatus was a necessary creative break to live life, dealing with experiences like perimenopause and raising a teenager. The new 19-track album features a range of collaborators, including rappers Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Tierra Whack, and Too $hort. Longtime collaborator Adam Blackstone co-produced "Pressha," continuing a creative partnership that has anchored her sound in lush jazz instrumentation. The single officially debuted on R&B radio in mid-January and quickly climbed the charts, jumping from No. 16 to No. 9 in its first week of tracking. According to MediaBase, the song garnered 2,160 spins between February 22 and February 28, pushing it to the top spot. On Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart, it currently sits at No. 2. Scott describes "Pressha" as a song about the societal pressure to conform to a certain aesthetic, sometimes at the expense of character and consistency. A recently released music video for the song features cameos from actors Tyler Lepley, Tasha Smith, and Niecy Nash-Betts, visually portraying the song's theme of being privately desired but not publicly acknowledged. This latest chart-topper adds to a long history of success for the three-time Grammy winner. Her previous two studio albums, "The Light of the Sun" (2011) and "Woman" (2015), both debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Fans can catch Jill Scott performing live later this month, as she is scheduled to appear at the HBCU Aware Fest in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 26, 2026.
