Final Conjuring Film Trailer

The first trailer for 'The Conjuring: Last Rites' dropped, marking the ninth and final installment of the supernatural franchise. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren for what's expected to be their farewell to the series. The film serves as the culmination of the long-running horror franchise.

The upcoming film is based on the real-life Smurl family haunting in Pennsylvania, which paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren looked into in 1986. The Smurl family reported experiencing disturbing events for over a decade, including loud noises, strange smells, and physical attacks. This case was one of the last major investigations the Warrens undertook together. *The Conjuring* Universe, which includes spin-offs like *Annabelle* and *The Nun*, is the highest-grossing horror franchise in history, having earned over $2.7 billion at the global box office. The series' success is built on dramatizing the supposed real-life case files of the Warrens, with the main films following their investigations and the spin-offs exploring the origins of the entities they encountered. While *Last Rites* is being marketed as the final chapter for the Warrens, the franchise's creators have hinted at a "Phase Two" for the universe. This could include new stories or further exploration of existing spin-off characters. The film reportedly introduces the Warrens' daughter Judy and her boyfriend Tony Spera as potential successors to carry on the paranormal investigations. The director of *The Conjuring: Last Rites* is Michael Chaves, who also directed previous installments in the franchise, *The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It* and *The Nun II*. The film is set to be released on September 5, 2025.
