Cultivar Opens Flagship Restaurant in Sausalito
Cultivar has opened a new flagship restaurant in Sausalito. The debut is part of a larger wave of new restaurant and bar openings across the Bay Area this month.
- The new Sausalito restaurant is the third Bay Area location for the Cultivar brand, joining establishments in San Francisco's Marina District and Ghirardelli Square. - The brand was founded by siblings Gingy Harris Gable and Jody Harris, third-generation stewards of their family's Napa Valley estate, which was purchased by their grandparents in 1958. - Located at 690 Bridgeway, the restaurant is housed in a completely renovated historic 1915 building directly across from the Sausalito ferry terminal. - The kitchen is centered around a Valoriani wood-fired oven from Tuscany and the culinary program is led by Executive Chef Matthew Curry, who has previously worked at other iconic Bay Area waterfront restaurants like Sam's Anchor Cafe and Waterbar. - The menu utilizes ingredients from the family's Caspar Estate in Napa, including wildflower honey and extra virgin olive oil from a grove of heritage Mission olive trees. - In addition to a full cocktail program, the restaurant showcases the family's award-winning Cultivar and Caspar Estate wines, with their 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2021 Rosé both winning Gold at the 2023 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. - The executive team includes Chef de Cuisine Justin Bruckert, formerly of Station House Cafe, and Pastry Chef Candace Rowan, a Marin native with experience at A16 and Cavallo Point Lodge.
