SNA International Awarded $151B Defense Contract

SNA International has been awarded a contract for the Missile Defense Agency's SHIELD program, a massive vehicle with a ceiling of $151 billion. The contract focuses on providing scalable homeland defense solutions.

The SHIELD contract is a massive 10-year, multi-award vehicle that allows the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and other Department of Defense entities to rapidly issue task orders. This structure is designed to accelerate the development and delivery of innovative capabilities to warfighters by streamlining the acquisition process. SNA International is one of over 2,400 companies eligible to compete for work under this contract. The large number of awardees is intended to maximize competition and broaden the industrial base supporting missile defense. Companies on the vehicle range from major defense contractors to specialized technology firms, including names like Blue Origin, SAIC, and General Dynamics. The program aims to create a "layered defense architecture" by focusing on an open systems approach. This encourages modular designs and ensures new technologies can be integrated into existing platforms without complete overhauls, fostering collaboration over competition among contractors. SHIELD will leverage digital engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to counter threats that include ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles. While known for its deep expertise in forensic science and biometrics for agencies like the FBI and the Defense Health Agency, SNA International also provides technical and engineering services relevant to missile defense. The company's capabilities include weapons systems reverse engineering, pioneering AI-enabled software tools, and expertise in countering chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats.
