US Solar Manufacturer OMCO Acquired
OMCO Solar, a U.S. manufacturer of solar trackers and fixed-tilt solutions, has been acquired by MacLean-Fogg, a U.S.-based manufacturing enterprise. The company stated the partnership with the family-owned MacLean-Fogg will position it for continued growth. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- The acquirer, MacLean-Fogg, is a fourth-generation, family-owned manufacturer founded in 1925 that generates over $1 billion in annual revenue by providing engineered components for the automotive, industrial, and electrical utility industries. - OMCO Solar is a major domestic manufacturer of solar mounting structures, having delivered over 12 GW of hardware from its five U.S. plants in Arizona, Alabama, Ohio, and Indiana. - This acquisition is part of MacLean-Fogg's strategy to diversify into high-value industrial markets, following its 2024 acquisition of Mallard Manufacturing, a producer of gravity flow solutions for warehouses. - OMCO Solar, referred to as the nation's largest custom roll former, will continue to operate as a distinct brand under its current leadership. - The deal occurs as U.S. solar manufacturing expands significantly, spurred by the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which provides tax credits and incentives for domestic clean energy production. - Since the IRA was passed, over $100 billion in new private sector investments have been announced for the U.S. solar and storage industry, with 51 new solar manufacturing facilities announced or expanded in the last year alone. - OMCO entered the utility-scale solar market in 2007 and has since established a coast-to-coast manufacturing footprint using 100% U.S. steel for its roll-formed parts. - Prior to the acquisition, OMCO Solar had recently evolved its offerings by launching its own proprietary solar technology, the OMCO Starâ„¢ Tracker Control System.
