Foy Vance's Final Album Coming March 13

Foy Vance returns with *The Wake*, his seventh and reportedly final album, scheduled for release on March 13, 2026. Inspired by the passing of his father, Vance's latest blends folk, soul, and Southern blues into a deeply personal musical statement. Produced by Ethan Johns and coming via Rounder Records, it promises to be a moving finale to Vance's 26-year career.

The upcoming album is the culmination of a plan Vance conceived 26 years ago, following the death of his father. He resolved to release seven albums, each representing a stage of his artistic and personal growth, to process his grief and honor his father's memory. *The Wake* marks the completion of this deeply personal project. Vance's father, a preacher, instilled in him a love for music, teaching him to play the 12-bar blues. His family moved from Northern Ireland to the American South for a period during his childhood, where he was immersed in the gospel and soul music of black churches, which heavily influenced his sound. Producer Ethan Johns is known for his work with a range of iconic artists, including Paul McCartney and Ray LaMontagne. He is recognized for his preference for analog recording techniques, which aligns with Vance's raw and authentic musical style. Rounder Records has a long history of championing American roots music, with a roster that has included Alison Krauss, Robert Plant, and Billy Strings. The label, founded in 1970, has a reputation for supporting artists outside of the mainstream. Vance's previous album, 2021's *Signs of Life*, was a deeply personal record that explored his struggles with addiction and the renewal that came with sobriety. The album received praise for its impassioned lyrics and sound, tackling themes of adversity and hope. Throughout his career, Vance has toured with and written for a host of prominent artists, including Ed Sheeran, Elton John, and Kacey Musgraves. Sheeran signed Vance to his Gingerbread Man Records label, and Elton John executive produced his 2016 album, *The Wild Swan*. A documentary titled *Sketches of the Wake* premiered in January 2026, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the final album. Following the album's release, Vance is scheduled to embark on "The Wake World Tour," with dates across Europe and North America.
