Tejas Networks Unveils New DCI Platform
India's Tejas Networks has launched a new hyperscale Data Center Interconnect (DCI) platform. Unveiled at Mobile World Congress, the optical networking product is designed to connect data centers with high-capacity, low-latency links.
The newly announced TJ1600-D3 platform is engineered for hyperscale data centers, supporting line rates from 400G to 1.2T per wavelength. It can scale up to 51.2 terabits per second of total capacity within a compact 3-RU chassis, a form factor designed for space and power efficiency. The system is built to handle the massive data volumes generated by AI workloads, cloud services, and large computing clusters. This launch targets the rapidly growing global DCI market, which is projected to grow from over USD 15 billion in 2025 to more than USD 25 billion by 2030. The demand is fueled by the expansion of hyperscale data centers and the increasing need for high-speed, low-latency links to support disaster recovery and data mobility. The shift to 400G and 800G optical technologies is a key driver of this market evolution. The formal unveiling was conducted by India's Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, highlighting its significance for India's role in next-generation telecom infrastructure. The announcement from Barcelona and Bengaluru signals Tejas Networks' ambition to compete in the global optical transport market. A subsidiary of the Tata Group, Tejas Networks operates in over 75 countries, providing equipment for telecom operators, internet service providers, and government agencies. This backing and global presence provide a strategic foundation for the rollout of their new DCI platform. This launch follows other strategic moves, including a recent agreement with NEC Corporation to manufacture and supply 5G massive MIMO radios.
