Warriors Missed on Giannis?
At the 2026 trade deadline, the Warriors reportedly offered Draymond Green for Giannis Antetokounmpo but didn't land the deal NBA Trade Deadline 2026.
The Warriors' interest in Antetokounmpo was widely reported leading up to the 2026 trade deadline. Other teams like the Knicks, Timberwolves, and Heat were also reportedly interested. Golden State was supposedly willing to part with Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and future draft picks. However, Milwaukee apparently didn't find any offer to their liking and chose to keep Antetokounmpo. Bobby Portis, a teammate of Antetokounmpo, said that it's a "coin flip" on whether Antetokounmpo will stay with the Bucks, meaning the Warriors could try to trade for him again. He is eligible to sign a massive extension with the Bucks on October 1st, but if he doesn't want to sign it, the Bucks may listen to trade offers. The Warriors pivoted and traded for Kristaps Porzingis instead, sending Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Hawks. Some believe they could have gotten a better player than Porzingis.
