Hyundai will unveil the IONIQ 3 in Milan on April 20, adding a compact electric hatchback to its IONIQ lineup. (hyundai.com) Hyundai Motor Europe says the world premiere will take place during Milan Design Week, with the public event running April 21 to April 26 at Torneria Tortona. The company is tying the car’s launch to its “Art of Steel” design installation. (hyundai.com) The company describes the IONIQ 3 as a “compact model made for real life,” with a spacious interior and easy-to-use technology. Hyundai has not yet published full specifications, pricing, battery size, or range. (hyundai.com) The new car fills a gap below Hyundai’s larger IONIQ models as European buyers shift toward smaller, lower-priced electric vehicles. Hyundai said at its September 18, 2025 CEO Investor Day that the IONIQ 3 is one of its new regional electric vehicles for Europe. (hyundai.com) Hyundai has been building toward this launch since IAA Mobility in Munich on September 9, 2025, when it showed Concept THREE, its first compact electric vehicle concept under the IONIQ brand. Hyundai said that concept signaled an expansion into the European compact electric vehicle market. (hyundai.com) Concept THREE also introduced the “Art of Steel” design language that Hyundai is now using to frame the production car’s debut in Milan. Hyundai’s European site says the IONIQ 3 is rooted in that design philosophy rather than the pixel-heavy look used on some earlier IONIQ models. (hyundai.com) The Milan reveal is part of a broader European push. Hyundai said at IAA 2025 that it planned to offer an electrified version of every model in Europe by 2027, while expanding its battery-electric lineup in the region. (hyundai.com) Electrek reported on April 16 that Hyundai is targeting production in mid-2026 and framed the car as an electric hatch aimed at Europe’s mainstream market. Hyundai has confirmed the debut date and positioning, but it has not yet publicly detailed the production timetable on its own launch pages. (electrek.co) For now, Hyundai is selling the IONIQ 3 on timing and category: a smaller battery-electric hatchback, revealed in Europe, for a market where compact cars still matter. The fuller test comes on April 20, when Hyundai is expected to release the car’s final design and core specs. (hyundai.com)
