Scale Computing Acquires Adaptiv Networks
Scale Computing, a company focused on edge computing, has acquired Adaptiv Networks. The acquisition is intended to expand Scale Computing's managed network solutions with cloud-native SD-WAN and SASE offerings, accelerating its edge computing and network convergence strategy.
- The acquirer, Scale Computing, was itself acquired by Acumera in July 2025; the combined entity kept the Scale Computing name and is led by CEO Bill Morrow, with backing from Oaktree Capital Management. - Adaptiv Networks, founded in 2002 and led by CEO Bernard Breton, specializes in networking solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). - The company has a 100% channel-focused sales model, meaning its products are sold exclusively through certified Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and solution providers. - Adaptiv Networks built its technology portfolio in part through its own acquisitions, including the purchases of LiveQoS in 2019 and ELFIQ Networks in 2020. - The deal combines Scale's edge computing, which processes data locally for speed, with Adaptiv's SD-WAN, which optimizes and secures network connections for distributed locations. - Adaptiv Networks has positioned itself as a cost-effective alternative to larger competitors in the SASE market, such as Cato Networks. - Original Scale Computing co-founder Jeff Ready, who had raised over $159 million for the company, now serves as President and Chief Marketing Officer of the newly combined firm.
