Gabriel Kreuther Opens Hudson Yards Brasserie
Acclaimed chef Gabriel Kreuther just opened Saverne, a modern brasserie in NYC's Hudson Yards featuring live-fire cooking and contemporary French-inspired dishes. The restaurant blends old-world brasserie style with sleek modern design, complete with an open kitchen for immersive dining experiences. Early photos show it's positioned as a hidden gem off Manhattan's beaten path.
Chef Gabriel Kreuther's eponymous restaurant near Bryant Park holds two Michelin stars and a AAA Five Diamond rating, making Saverne the acclaimed chef's first new restaurant in more than a decade. Before opening his own establishments, Kreuther earned a James Beard Award as executive chef at The Modern. The new brasserie, Saverne, is named after a historic town in Kreuther's home region of Alsace, France, reflecting a return to his roots. The menu draws heavily on hearty Alsatian traditions, which blend French and Germanic culinary influences, featuring dishes like tarte flambée and spätzle. Saverne is located on the ground floor of the 66-story Spiral building in Hudson Yards, a project developed by Tishman Speyer. The 5,000-square-foot space seats 145 and is a collaboration with Kreuther's business partner, Eben Dorros. Kreuther has tapped Andy Choi as the executive chef to run the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. The extensive dessert program, which includes 18 items and six different sundaes, is managed by executive pastry chef Nicolas Chevrieux.
