Bali Boosts Tourist Security Measures
Bali is enhancing tourist safety measures ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, reviewing security protocols for a secure visitor experience.
Operation Ketupat Agung, a nationwide policing initiative, will increase uniformed and plain-clothes patrols at airports, ports, bus terminals, and tourist areas through the end of the peak travel window. These integrated posts aim to provide rapid coordination in the event of accidents, crime, or natural disruptions, and offer assistance to travelers. Health posts and mobile medical teams are also being prepared along major overland routes. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has dispatched senior officials to inspect critical tourist areas. These reviews focus on public safety, emergency preparedness, crowd management, and coordination among agencies at high-traffic destinations. The goal is to ensure security personnel, medical services, and disaster response units are ready to respond quickly during the Eid surge. Bali is also preparing for Nyepi Day on March 19, 2026, which coincides with the Eid al-Fitr travel period. Security will be heightened during this time. During Nyepi Day, everyone on the island must stay inside and observe silence.
