Axel Springer Acquires Bisnow
German media giant Axel Springer has acquired Bisnow, a major commercial real estate media and events company. The deal, advised by BrightTower, marks a significant consolidation in the B2B media landscape.
This acquisition integrates Bisnow into Axel Springer's newly formed Brew Media Group, where it will operate as a separate company alongside Morning Brew Inc. Robert Dippell, the current CEO of Morning Brew, will lead the new group, but Bisnow's existing executive team, including CEO Gregg Mayer, will remain in their roles to guide the company's next growth phase. The deal represents a significant expansion of Axel Springer's footprint in the U.S. market, a key target for the German media company's growth. This strategy has previously included the high-profile acquisitions of Business Insider, Politico for over $1 billion, and Morning Brew itself. Founded in 2005 by Mark Bisnow, the company pivoted from traditional business news to a more personality-focused digital format, combining e-newsletters with a robust events business. Prior to the acquisition, Bisnow was owned by private equity firm The Wicks Group. Bisnow has established itself as a major player in commercial real estate media, producing over 400 live events annually across 47 markets in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Ireland. The company's platform includes digital news, targeted B2B solutions, and a subscriber base of over 600,000.
