Strongwoman Leaders Emerge
Olga Liashchuk and Angelica Jardine are leading the 2026 Arnold Strongwoman Classic after day one's trio of events tested world-class competitors across multiple strength challenges. The competition kicked off yesterday in Columbus, Ohio.
The battle for the 2026 Arnold Strongwoman Classic title is a clash of titans, with both leaders having previously won the coveted championship. Angelica Jardine is the reigning 2024 champion, while Olga Liashchuk claimed the top spot in both 2019 and 2020. Day one's events showcased a variety of strength disciplines. The competition began with the Elephant Bar Deadlift, where Lucy Underdown set a new world record with a massive 701-pound pull. In this event, Liashchuk lifted 621 pounds and Jardine pulled 616 pounds. The second event, the Monster Dumbbell Challenge, was won by defending champion Inez Carrasquillo. Angelica Jardine managed two reps at 180 pounds, while Olga Liashchuk completed one rep at 190 pounds. The final event of the day was the Stone to Shoulder, where athletes had to lift a 260-pound stone as many times as possible. Jardine dominated the event with seven repetitions, securing a crucial event win. Liashchuk was close behind, completing six repetitions. With the scores reset for the final day, the championship is still very much up for grabs. The remaining events will test the athletes' endurance and explosive power, including the Stone Drag, the American Oak lift, and a Strongman Bag Race Up Ramps. The close race between Jardine and Liashchuk echoes their tight competition in previous years. At the 2024 Arnold Strongwoman Classic, Jardine edged out Liashchuk by a mere half a point to take the title. This year's contest is shaping up to be another nail-biting finish. Beyond their Arnold victories, both women are highly decorated athletes. Liashchuk is a two-time World's Strongest Woman winner and holds a Guinness World Record for crushing watermelons with her thighs. Jardine is also a former America's Strongest Woman champion. The ten-woman field is packed with talent, including 2025 champion Inez Carrasquillo, who currently sits in third place with 23 points. The final day of competition will determine who takes home the Sandwina Trophy.
