Solabia Acquires Mibelle Biochemistry
Ingredients supplier Solabia has acquired Mibelle Biochemistry from Spain’s Persán Group. The move is intended to strengthen Solabia's position in the cosmetic and personal care ingredients sector. The deal is seen as a key development for sourcing innovative beauty components.
- This sale marks a strategic shift for the Persán Group, which is divesting the specialized ingredient developer to concentrate on its primary home and personal care manufacturing business. Persán had acquired Mibelle Biochemistry's parent company, Mibelle Group, less than a year prior. - Founded in Switzerland in 1991, Mibelle Biochemistry is a globally recognized innovator in biotechnology-based ingredients and is considered a pioneer in plant stem cell technology for cosmetics. The company distributes its science-backed ingredients for skin, hair, and cognitive support to over 50 countries. - The acquisition will integrate Mibelle's more than 50 employees into the Solabia Group, which currently has over 900 employees, eleven production facilities, and eight R&D labs worldwide. - This deal strengthens Paris-based Solabia's leadership in natural active ingredients, a market estimated to have surpassed $800 million in 2025. Europe holds the largest share of this market at 30%. - Mibelle Biochemistry is known for developing award-winning and trademarked ingredients such as PhytoCellTec™, which is based on plant stem cell culture, and the recently launched SenoCellTec™, which targets advanced skin regeneration. - Solabia, established in 1972, has a history of strategic acquisitions to expand its expertise, including recent purchases of companies specializing in polymers, microbiological diagnostics, and functional cosmetic ingredients. - The transaction was announced by Solabia's CEO, Jean-Baptiste Dellon, and Persán's CEO, Antonio Somé, with the deal expected to close in the coming months; financial terms have not been made public.
