Pokémon GO’s Steeled Resolve event starts Tuesday, April 28, at 10 a.m. local time and runs through Monday, May 4, at 8 p.m. local time. (pokemongo.com) The headline addition is Orthworm, the Paldea-region Earthworm Pokémon, making its Pokémon GO debut. Niantic says lucky players can also encounter a Shiny Orthworm during the event. (pokemongo.com) Shiny Meltan is also back, but only through the Mystery Box, the item players get by sending a Pokémon to Pokémon HOME or to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! on Nintendo Switch. Niantic says the wait time to open the Mystery Box again will be reduced during the event. (pokemongo.com) (leekduck.com) For local play, the event is built around simple outdoor loops: wild spawns, field research, and short raids that can be cleared at parks, plazas, and shopping districts with PokéStops and gyms. Niantic’s featured wild spawns include Magnemite, Aron, Ferroseed, and possible Pawniard encounters. (pokemongo.com) The raid lineup is narrow and easy to plan around. One-star raids feature Honedge, Shieldon, and Beldum, while Orthworm is the only listed three-star raid boss. (pokemongo.com) (serebii.net) Niantic is also tying the week to a free progression track called GO Pass: Steeled Resolve – Taken Over. Players can collect GO Points from April 28 through May 4, then claim unlocked rewards until May 6 at 7:59 p.m. local time. (pokemongo.com) The paid upsell sits on top of that pass. Niantic lists GO Pass Deluxe at $4.99 and GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Ranks at $6.99, with both adding faster progression and extra rewards. (pokemongo.com) (leekduck.com) The biggest timing wrinkle comes at the end of the event. From Saturday, May 2, at 12 a.m. through Monday, May 4, at 7:59 p.m. local time, Niantic says there will be no daily limit on GO Points earned. (pokemongo.com) (leekduck.com) For players organizing local meetups, that means the most efficient window is the final weekend, when Orthworm raids, Mystery Box Meltan hunts, and uncapped GO Point grinding all overlap.
