LA Hosts Lantern Paw Festival Today
Los Angeles is celebrating the Year of the Dragon today with the 3rd Annual Lantern Paw Festival. The free event, hosted by PAWSITIVE MGMT, is being held at Blossom Plaza in the city's Chinatown.
The Lantern Paw Festival runs in conjunction with the 48th Annual L.A. Chinatown Firecracker, one of the country's oldest and largest running races. The festival specifically coincides with the Firecracker's "Paw'er Dog Walk," a 2k stroll for dogs and their owners. PAWSITIVE MGMT, the event's host, is a production company that specializes in creating dog-centric events with a charitable component. Their mission is to support animal rescues and shelters by raising awareness and funds through these community gatherings. Other events they organize include PAWLYMPICS and PUP-O-WEEN. The festival is celebrating the Year of the Fire Horse, which officially begins on February 17, 2026. The Fire Horse year is associated with dynamic energy, rapid changes, and innovation. The event will feature Year of the Fire Horse-themed pet photography sessions and custom portraits. Previous Lantern Paw Festivals have included activities such as mahjong lessons, arts and crafts for kids hosted by the Los Angeles Public Library, and pet adoption opportunities with local rescues. For last year's event, attendees could purchase a special "Pawsitive Action Supporting Shelters (PASS)" ticket, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Lovejoy Foundation to help dogs find forever homes.
