London Gallery Features 1,000 Artworks

London's National Gallery is displaying over 1,000 works in "C C Land: The Wonder of Art," running until May 9, 2026, featuring classic masterpieces alongside new loans by Andrea Mantegna, Anthony van Dyck, and William Hogarth. The free exhibition at Trafalgar Square represents a major redisplay celebrating both national heritage and contemporary creativity over two centuries of art collection.

- The exhibition's title sponsor, C C Land, is a Hong Kong-based property development and investment group with projects in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and mainland China. - This is the first major redisplay of the gallery's collection in over three decades and is part of the National Gallery's 200th birthday celebration. - The exhibition coincides with the reopening of the transformed Sainsbury Wing, which has been closed for more than two years for renovations. - In a first for the gallery, some artists like Titian and Claude Monet will have entire rooms dedicated to their work. Other artists with their own rooms include Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt, and Thomas Gainsborough. - The redisplay will feature thematic arrangements, with rooms dedicated to topics such as 'The Spectacle of Portraiture', 'Flowers', and 'Still Life'. - Newly restored works, including "The Martyrdom of San Sebastian" by the Pollaiuolo brothers, will be on display for the first time in several years. - The exhibition will also showcase how artists have historically inspired one another, with specific pairings of paintings such as Rembrandt's "Self Portrait at the Age of 34" with Titian's "Portrait of Gerolamo(?) Barbarigo". - Alongside the permanent collection, the display includes new loans of works by artists like Vincent van Gogh and acquisitions by Nicolas Poussin and Eva Gonzalèz.
