Sandman Season 2 Adds GoT Star
Netflix's *The Sandman* Season 2 has revealed a surprising new cast member from *Game of Thrones*, though the specific actor and role remain tightly under wraps. This casting choice is already generating buzz among fans of both series, indicating high expectations for the upcoming season's depth and ambition. The move reflects the ongoing trend of major genre crossovers and star-studded fantasy adaptations designed to draw established fantasy audiences into Neil Gaiman's intricate universe.
The new season will adapt major storylines from Neil Gaiman's comic series, primarily "Season of Mists" and "Brief Lives". Showrunner Allan Heinberg teased that the new characters are powerful, clever, and ruthless, and will entrap Dream in a web of palace intrigue and demonic battles. The *Game of Thrones* alumnus joining the cast is actually a trio of actors. Jack Gleeson, who famously played Joffrey Baratheon, will portray Puck, a mischievous hobgoblin. He is joined by Clive Russell (Brynden "Blackfish" Tully in *GoT*), who will play the Norse god Odin, and Laurence O'Fuarain (a minor role in *GoT* Season 5) as his son, Thor. This second season will also introduce the remaining members of Dream's family, the Endless. Esmé Creed-Miles has been cast as the youngest sibling, Delirium, with Barry Sloane playing the prodigal brother, Destruction, and Adrian Lester as the eldest, Destiny. Other significant new cast members include Ruairi O'Connor as Dream's son, Orpheus, Indya Moore as the character Wanda, and Freddie Fox as the trickster god Loki. The expansive cast for the final season features over 80 members in total. Filming for the second season was completed in August 2024, with the show now in post-production. Netflix has announced this will be the final season of the series. The final season is scheduled for release in two parts. The first volume of episodes will be released on July 3, 2025, with the second volume following on July 24, 2025. A special bonus episode is also planned to drop on July 31, 2025.
