Cosmere Gets Major Story Reveals

Brandon Sanderson confirmed that red-haired characters at the end of *The Lost Metal* are Horneaters, and Rock has left Roshar by *Wind and Truth*'s beginning. In Mistborn Era 3, one protagonist will be Koloss-blooded, revealing more about Koloss culture. Wax achieved something unique during his metal explosion experiment involving a specific mindset when splitting god metals.

- Horneaters are native to the Horneater Peaks in Jah Keved and are descended from interbreeding between humans and the native, non-human Singers, which is the source of their red hair and ability to digest things like shells. Their mountainous home contains one of the few stable perpendicularities (crossings between realms) on the planet Roshar. - The character Rock (full name Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor) was a member of Bridge Four who, as a third son, was culturally forbidden from fighting. He broke this taboo to save Kaladin's life at the Battle of Thaylen Field, and his departure from Roshar was to return to his people to face judgment for this act. - The Koloss were originally created by the Lord Ruler using the dark art of Hemalurgy, which involves stabbing four people through the heart with metal spikes and then driving those spikes into a fifth person, transforming them into a blue-skinned brute. These beings formed the backbone of the Lord Ruler's military forces. - After the world was remade by the Shard Harmony, the Koloss were changed to allow for natural reproduction. Their offspring are known as Koloss-blooded; they possess greater strength than normal humans and can choose to undergo the transformation into a full Koloss upon reaching maturity. - Mistborn Era 3, which will carry the subtitle *Ghostbloods*, is planned to be set approximately 50 years after the conclusion of Era 2. The technological level of the society will be analogous to Earth's 1980s, featuring early computer technology. - God metals, like atium and lerasium, are the physical, solid manifestation of the power of a Shard of Adonalsium. When burned by an Allomancer, they produce unique effects distinct from the standard 16 Allomantic metals. For example, burning lerasium can transform a regular person into a powerful Mistborn. - During the experiment at the end of *The Lost Metal*, Wax's specific intent to separate the powers of Harmony created a secondary explosion. This event produced a small amount of lerasium, the god metal of Preservation, which Wax unknowingly inhaled, turning him into a Mistborn. - Brandon Sanderson has a planned novella titled *Horneater*, which is expected to follow Rock's story after he returns to the Horneater Peaks.
