Brussels Airlines Adds Double Michelin Chef
Brussels Airlines announced 2026 upgrades with double Michelin-starred chef Glenn Verhasselt curating Business Class menus, plus Premium Economy chinaware and Starlink Wi-Fi. The airline is elevating its culinary game at 30,000 feet with restaurant-quality dishes designed by one of Belgium's top chefs.
Glenn Verhasselt is the sixteenth chef to participate in the Brussels Airlines "Belgian Star Chefs" program, a tradition the airline started in 2013 to showcase the country's top culinary talent on its long-haul flights. He succeeds Arabelle Meirlaen and joins a legacy of chefs tasked with creating menus based on local Belgian ingredients and specialties. The chef is no stranger to accolades, having been named 'Chef of the Year 2025' by Gault&Millau and earning his second Michelin star in 2024 for his restaurant, Sir Kwinten, located in Lennik. His culinary philosophy is rooted in the purity and quality of seasonal and local products, a style he will now adapt for 10,000 meters. Creating the in-flight menu was a multi-month process involving collaboration with gategourmet's Executive Chef, Raymond Slosse, to ensure the dishes could be perfectly executed in the unique environment of an aircraft cabin. The Business Class menus will rotate every three months to feature a new selection of starters, main courses, and desserts. The upgrades extend beyond the menu, with the introduction of Starlink Wi-Fi across the Lufthansa Group fleet, which includes Brussels Airlines. The high-speed satellite internet will be powerful enough for streaming and will be offered free of charge to all status customers and users with a Travel ID. The rollout of the new Wi-Fi is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, starting with Airbus A320 aircraft, with the long-haul fleet following in a second phase. The entire group-wide installation, covering around 850 aircraft, is planned for completion by the end of 2029. Beyond the cabin upgrades, the gastronomic experience is complemented by wines curated by Master of Wine Jan De Clercq, beers selected by sommelier Sofie Vanrafelghem, and cheeses from renowned affineur Van Tricht.
