LEGOLAND California Opens LEGO Galaxy

LEGOLAND California Resort launched its largest-ever expansion, LEGO® Galaxy, featuring the new Galacticoaster and interactive play zones. This new area offers hands-on activities and rides suitable for multiple ages.

The LEGO Galaxy expansion, featuring the Galacticoaster, represents Merlin Entertainments' largest investment in Legoland California. The $90 million investment spans both the California and Florida Legoland resorts. This marks the first new roller coaster at Legoland California in over 20 years. Galacticoaster sends riders on a mission to save a Lego galaxy from an asteroid, reaching speeds of 40 mph. The indoor ride includes a pre-show and interactive elements, such as designing a virtual spaceship with over 625 possible combinations. The ride is family-friendly, with a minimum height requirement of 36 inches to ride with an adult. LEGO Galaxy also features the G-Force Test Facility and the DUPLO Launch and Land for younger children. Guests can build LEGO rockets at the Rocket Assembly Bay and scan them to launch them into cyberspace. The land includes themed dining options like Nebula Noodles and Stellar Crusts at the U.F.O. (Ultimate Food Outlet). The new land aims to immerse visitors in LEGO Space history, showcasing life-size models of classic LEGO sets. This includes a 25:1 scale animatronic LEGO Minifigure named Biff Dipper who serves as the chief engineer. Legoland California, which opened in 1999, has over 60 rides, shows, and attractions. The park's attendance reached nearly 3 million visitors in 2015.
