OpenProject 17.2 has secure AI
OpenProject 17.2 just launched with secure AI integrations via MCP Server, plus improved project overviews and comment fields [https://x.com/openproject/status/2031706325365772459]. Fwupd 2.1.1 also dropped as a "massive update" for Linux firmware [https://x.com/i/status/2032077752988487783]. Lots of new OSS to play with.
OpenProject 17.2 introduces the MCP Server, an Enterprise add-on that facilitates secure integrations between OpenProject and AI systems, including Large Language Models (LLMs). The MCP Server exposes OpenProject's APIv3 resources as MCP-compatible endpoints, enabling secure, authenticated access for AI clients. This allows for richer contextual interactions with project data. The MCP Server includes administrative UI support for configuration, infrastructure and metadata endpoints, and integration of MCP authentication with OpenProject's OAuth2 and API key mechanisms. It offers an initial set of MCP tools and resources for key entities like projects, work packages, and users. Response formats are adjustable based on user preferences. Mercedes-AMG sponsored the development of the MCP Server and actively uses it in their OpenProject environment. Fwupd 2.1.1 is a significant update for Linux firmware, adding new hardware support and features. The update includes AMD Platform Secure Boot support and a new security check for HP Sure Start. It also expands hardware compatibility with devices like Sunwinon HID devices, Blestech touchpads, and Lenovo accessories.
