Nebraska Ends Iowa Basketball Skid
Nebraska snapped a four-game losing streak against Iowa with an 84-75 overtime victory at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The win capped off what's being called the best regular season in Cornhuskers history as they head into the Big Ten tournament.
The victory for the No. 9 ranked Cornhuskers capped a historic regular season, tying the program's all-time record for wins with 26, a mark previously set by the 1990-91 team. Their 15th conference win of the season also established a new school record. The win over Iowa was a significant momentum shift, snapping a four-game losing streak that included losses to Michigan, Illinois, Purdue, and most recently a 72-52 defeat at UCLA. Prior to this skid, the Huskers had won five straight games. The game itself was a hard-fought battle, with Nebraska needing overtime to secure the 84-75 victory. Cale Jacobsen was a key contributor, scoring a career-high 15 points, including six in the crucial overtime period. Seniors Sam Hoiberg and Pryce Sandfort also added 15 points each on Senior Day at Pinnacle Bank Arena. This victory was Nebraska's first win against Iowa in their last five matchups, splitting the season series after a 57-52 loss in Iowa City earlier in the year. The Cornhuskers dominated the final minutes of overtime, scoring the last nine points of the game to seal the win. With the regular season concluded, Nebraska now heads to the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago as the No. 2 seed. They are scheduled to play their first game of the tournament on Friday.
