AI Firm Squirro Appoints New CEO
AI enterprise intelligence firm Squirro has appointed David Clarke as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Co-founder Dr. Dorian Selz will move to the role of Executive Deputy Chairman, signaling a leadership shift as the company aims to scale its secure AI solutions for large enterprises.
The appointment of David Clarke as CEO follows Squirro's 2024 acquisition of Synaptica, the enterprise knowledge graph management company he co-founded. This strategic acquisition integrated Synaptica's knowledge graph technology with Squirro's generative AI, a move aimed at enhancing the accuracy and transparency of AI-driven insights for large enterprises. Clarke, who has over 30 years of experience in the information industry, joined Squirro's leadership team as Chief Innovation Officer post-acquisition. In his new role as Executive Deputy Chairman, co-founder Dr. Dorian Selz will concentrate on "breakthrough innovation and high-impact distribution partnerships." Selz, a serial entrepreneur who previously co-founded and led the Swiss search platform local.ch to become a market leader, has been CEO of Squirro since its inception in 2012. His focus will now shift to accelerating the company's growth and driving the future of its enterprise AI initiatives. This leadership transition is designed to propel Squirro into its next phase of growth, with a focus on operational execution and global commercial expansion under Clarke's leadership. The company is targeting profitability by 2026 and aims to scale through strategic alliances, with a goal of generating 40% of its revenue through partner channels. Squirro is also planning to expand its offerings into new verticals such as life sciences, legal, and energy. Squirro's enterprise-grade AI platform is tailored for highly regulated industries, with clients including the European Central Bank, the Bank of England, and Standard Chartered Bank. The company's technology combines large language models with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and knowledge graphs to provide secure and compliant AI solutions. This focus on precision and reliability is intended to address the gap for innovative AI adoption in sectors with stringent compliance and security requirements.
