Starlink tops 10,000 satellites

SpaceX is set to launch 29 more Starlink satellites on March 22, a flight that will push the constellation past 10,000 satellites in orbit. That scale further cements Starlink's role in global broadband for remote regions, disaster response and military communications as the network expands capacity. SpaceX crossed the 10,000-active-Starlink threshold on March 17, 2026 after two Falcon 9 launches that day, according to contemporaneous launch coverage. (spaceflightnow.com: space.com: ) Independent tracker Jonathan McDowell and Space.com reported the constellation numbered roughly 10,049 spacecraft immediately after the dual launches, with reports that “all but 10” were functioning. (space.com: ) SpaceX launched the milestone satellites in two missions: Starlink Group 17‑24 deployed 25 V2 Mini‑optimized satellites from Vandenberg using booster B1088, and the Starlink 10‑33 flight from Cape Canaveral delivered 29 V2 Mini satellites using booster B1077. (spaceflightnow.com Vandenberg coverage: spaceflightnow.com Cape Canaveral coverage: ) Spaceflight Now noted SpaceX was averaging a Falcon 9 launch every 2.3 days in 2026 and that, as of mid‑March, 26 of the year’s first 33 Falcon 9 flights were dedicated to Starlink deployments. (spaceflightnow.com: ) Industry tallies show SpaceX has launched more than 11,500 Starlink units since May 2019, with roughly 1,500+ satellites already deorbited, and SpaceX said Starlink served over 10 million active customers across about 160 countries as of February 13, 2026.
