- The Digital Nomad Visa scheme was initially approved by the Council of Ministers on October 15, 2021, with a cap of 100 residence permits. This limit was later increased to 500 on March 3, 2022, and as of October 2025, the annual quota has been expanded to 1,000 permits. - To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate a stable monthly net income of at least €3,500 after taxes and contributions. This income requirement increases by 20% for a spouse or partner and by 15% for each child. - The program is administered by the Migration Department of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection. - The visa is granted for one year and can be renewed for an additional two years, allowing for a total stay of up to three years. - While the primary visa holder can work for employers or clients outside of Cyprus, their family members who join them are not permitted to engage in any economic activity in the country. - A key attraction of the Cyprus program is its tax system; a digital nomad may become a tax resident after spending 183 days in the country, and there is no tax on income up to €19,500. - Unlike some other digital nomad visas, the application for the Cyprus visa must be submitted in person at the Migration Department in Nicosia after arriving in the country, typically on a tourist visa. - Compared to other EU destinations, Cyprus is often highlighted for its more affordable cost of living, with monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment ranging from approximately €500 to €800.
