Japanese Man Does 100 Ab Wheels

A viral Japanese fitness challenge features a 73kg man doing 100 standing ab wheel rollouts with his 4.5kg Pomeranian, marking Day 1 of Season 2 of his intense workout series. The standingコロ challenge showcases next-level core strength and has fitness enthusiasts attempting the brutal exercise.

The man behind the challenge is a 33-year-old Japanese office worker known by his Twitter handle, @InosukeWorkout. He was inspired by the muscular physique of Inosuke Hashibira, a popular character from the anime and manga series *Demon Slayer*. "Season 1" of his challenge was a year-long endeavor that began on March 1, 2021. Over 365 days, he performed nearly 36,000 total ab wheel rollouts, consisting of 22,920 kneeling and 13,037 standing variations. This consistent effort resulted in a 13.1 kg (about 29 lbs) weight loss, dropping from 70.1 kg to 57.0 kg. The standing ab wheel rollout is considered an advanced core exercise because it engages numerous muscle groups simultaneously. It targets the rectus abdominis (the "six-pack" muscles), transverse abdominis, obliques, and also involves the lats, shoulders, and glutes to stabilize the body throughout the movement. Unlike the more common kneeling version, the standing rollout requires immense strength to control the entire body's leverage against the core, making it significantly more difficult. Many fitness experts recommend mastering kneeling rollouts and other core stability exercises before attempting the standing variation to avoid injury, particularly to the lower back.
