India's Karnataka State Partners with VivaTech
The Indian state of Karnataka signed a letter of intent with VivaTech, a major European innovation and technology event platform. The partnership aims to foster cross-border knowledge exchange and strengthen ties between the Indian and European innovation ecosystems.
- The partnership establishes a formal "Europe-India innovation corridor" that will be anchored by the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS), aiming for a structured, long-term collaboration rather than just event-level participation. - Key areas for joint programming and startup exchange include priority sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, ClimateTech, DeepTech, Gaming, and Semiconductors. - The Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi by Shri Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur, representing Karnataka, in the presence of IT Minister Priyank Kharge. - The agreement facilitates a two-way flow, enabling selected Karnataka startups to participate in VivaTech Paris while also creating opportunities for European startups and companies to engage with Karnataka's ecosystem through the Bengaluru Tech Summit. - This collaboration is strategically timed to strengthen technology partnerships between France and Bengaluru ahead of the India-France Year of Innovation in 2026. - VivaTech provides a significant platform for this partnership, with its 2025 event attracting a record 180,000 attendees and 14,000 startups. - Karnataka's IT Minister, Priyank Kharge, noted his firsthand experience at the event, calling it a "powerful platform" for local startups to access French and broader European markets. - The collaboration moves beyond just startup exchanges to include co-hosted innovation challenges, matchmaking initiatives with enterprises, and engagement with venture capital networks.
