Michelin’s first Philippines guide is no longer just a restaurant list: by April 2026, it had a pocket guidebook for Manila, nearby dining hubs and Cebu, plus a wider hotel footprint in Boracay. (michelin.com) (philippine-embassy.org.sg) Michelin unveiled its inaugural restaurant selection for the country on October 30, 2025, at Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts. The 2026 edition listed 108 establishments: 1 two-star restaurant, 8 one-star restaurants, 25 Bib Gourmand picks and 74 Michelin Selected restaurants. (michelin.com) (guide.michelin.com) That first selection covered Manila and its environs as well as Cebu, giving Michelin a launch map that stretched beyond Metro Manila into dining destinations such as Pampanga, Tagaytay and Cavite. Michelin’s inspector framework, as described in local coverage of the launch, also included cities such as Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, Quezon City, Taguig and San Juan. The Philippine Embassy in Singapore said the publication was meant to showcase the country’s “rich and evolving gastronomic landscape.” (philippine-embassy.org.sg) Michelin’s presence is also moving beyond dining rooms. Crimson Resort & Spa Boracay was added to Michelin’s hotel selection in April 2026, joining Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan and giving the homegrown brand two properties in the guide. (guide.michelin.com) (filinvestgroup.com) The Boracay listing puts a Michelin-selected hotel on Station Zero, the quieter stretch of the island where Crimson says it operates on 3,000 square meters of private white-sand beachfront. Michelin’s hotel page lists the property with 192 rooms. (guide.michelin.com) (crimsonhotel.com) For Michelin, the Philippines launch followed the same playbook it has used in other markets: start with a city-and-region restaurant guide, then build a broader travel product around hotels and destination visibility. In the Philippines, that meant pairing Cebu with Manila and nearby provinces rather than treating the capital as a standalone market. (michelin.com) (guide.michelin.com) The first Philippine results gave Gallery by Chele the country’s only two-star rating and named one Green Star restaurant for sustainability, while the Bib Gourmand and Selected lists spread recognition more widely across price points and cities. That mix matters for a guide trying to define a national dining scene, not just a luxury one. (guide.michelin.com) (spiritedasia.com) By April 2026, the Michelin name in the Philippines covered starred tasting menus, lower-priced Bib Gourmand spots, and at least two resort hotels under one local brand. The red guide arrived first in Manila and Cebu, but it is already being used to sell a wider Philippine food-and-travel story. (guide.michelin.com) (philippine-embassy.org.sg)
