Lincoln Center's 140-Foot Installation
A sweeping 140-foot multimedia installation called the Arrival Tableau has transformed Lincoln Center into a vibrant portrait of New York City. The artwork blends digital and physical media to capture the diversity and dynamism of urban life, offering visitors a new vision of the city's creative pulse.
The "Arrival Tableau" is a new commission by multidisciplinary artist Josh S. Rose. His work immersively captures the daily life of the Lincoln Center campus, from students and performers to the audiences they draw. The installation is a living portrait of the artistic community that pulses on the west side of Manhattan. This monumental work is part of a broader initiative at Lincoln Center to feature a rotating series of public art commissions in its newly renovated spaces. The program aims to showcase a new generation of contemporary artists, making their work accessible to all New Yorkers and visitors, and fostering a more inclusive and welcoming environment. The installation is situated in and on the exterior of David Geffen Hall and Alice Tully Hall. One of the key components of the new David Geffen Hall is a 50-foot media wall in the lobby, designed for showcasing captivating works of art like the "Arrival Tableau" to the public for free. The "Arrival Tableau" employs a mix of photography, video, and what the artist describes as "physical intervention." This blend of digital and physical media creates a dynamic and layered viewing experience, intended to reflect the vibrant and multifaceted nature of New York City's performing arts scene.
