Bad Bunny's Asia Debut

Bad Bunny made his Asia debut March 7 at Spotify's Billions Club Live in Tokyo, performing at Tipstar Dome Chiba for a packed crowd. This marks a significant milestone for Latin music's global reach, coming fresh off his Super Bowl LX performance.

The exclusive concert was part of Spotify's "Billions Club Live" series, a collection of performances celebrating artists who have songs with over one billion streams. Bad Bunny has at least 28 tracks that have reached this milestone, including hits like "Tití Me Preguntó," "Yonaguni," and "DÁKITI." Previous artists featured in this series include The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, and Miley Cyrus. The event was an invite-only affair for over 2,300 of Bad Bunny's top listeners in Japan, creating an intimate yet high-energy atmosphere. The stage design was inspired by Japanese cherry blossoms, and the setlist included 17 of his biggest hits. The audience included notable figures like Lisa of BLACKPINK and artist Takashi Murakami. A unique moment during the concert was the performance of "Yonaguni," where fans sang along to the song's Japanese lyrics with Bad Bunny for the first time live. He also surprised the crowd by bringing out Puerto Rican duo Jowell & Randy for a performance of "Safaera." This Tokyo show marks the only scheduled stop in Asia for Bad Bunny's ongoing "DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS World Tour." The tour, which began in late 2025, includes extensive dates across Latin America, Australia, and Europe, concluding in Belgium in July 2026. While Latin music has had a presence in Japan for decades, with genres like salsa and mambo finding niche audiences, it still represents less than 1% of the country's music market. Bad Bunny's high-profile performance is seen by some as a potential turning point for the genre's breakthrough in the world's second-largest music market.
