The Ferrari 296 GTS's name is a nod to its 2.9-liter, 6-cylinder engine, with "GTS" standing for Gran Turismo Spider. This V6 engine is paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 819 horsepower to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. This powertrain rockets the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds. The V6 engine architecture is a significant return to Ferrari's roots, echoing the Dino lineage of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. That historic "Dino" brand was named after Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, who was a key figure in the development of the company's early V6 engines.
