The German bodybuilder is fresh off a career-defining victory at the 2025 Arnold Classic, his first win at the prestigious event. This victory solidifies his position as a top contender in the Classic Physique division, especially following the retirement of long-time champion Chris Bumstead. Sommerfeld's win in Columbus, Ohio, came after a stunning second-place finish at the 2024 Mr. Olympia, where he surpassed well-known competitors like Ramon Dino and Urs Kalecinski. This performance shocked many in the bodybuilding community and marked his arrival as a major threat for the top title. Known as "Mike the Badass," Sommerfeld began his competitive journey in 2014 at the amateur Arnold Classic Europe, placing third. He turned pro in 2019, initially competing in the 212 division before finding his home in Classic Physique. A cornerstone of Sommerfeld's training philosophy is the "muscle-mind connection," a concept he emphasizes as being more critical than the amount of weight lifted.
