Record Store Day 2026 lands on Saturday, April 18, with more than 365 limited releases and stores warning that the most wanted titles could vanish early. (recordstoreday.com) One of the records drawing early attention is Flying Lotus’s *1983*, a remastered reissue of his 2006 debut that Record Store Day lists for April 18 on vinyl and compact disc through Brainfeeder. (recordstoreday.com) Flying Lotus’s own site says the reissue arrives April 17 in vinyl, compact disc and digital formats, including a limited gold-splatter long-playing record, while retailers describe the album as having been out of print for more than a decade. (flying-lotus.com) (store.jacarandarecords.com) In Worcester, England, Spin The Black Circle said 2026 will be its fourth year taking part and said last year’s crowds stretched down Pump Street and onto High Street. (worcesternews.co.uk) The Worcester shop said it expects “swift sell-outs and huge queues” this year and plans to stock more than 350 limited-edition records for the day. (radiowyvern.co.uk) (worcesternews.co.uk) That scramble is built into the event. Record Store Day says the special titles are released at participating independent shops on a first-come, first-served basis, with no preorders for the official drops. (recordstoreday.com) The event itself started in 2008 after independent record-store owners and staff conceived it in 2007 as a way to promote shop culture around nearly 1,400 independently owned stores in the United States and thousands more internationally. (recordstoreday.com) What Hi-Fi? has already started framing the run-up as “Vinyl Week 2026,” launching previews, buying guides and turntable coverage ahead of April 18. (whathifi.com) That mix of scarce reissues, early lines and media buildup is why April 18 is shaping up as a familiar Record Store Day scene: collectors making lists now, then showing up early and hoping their store got enough copies.
