Bobby Flay to Open First Canadian Restaurant
Celebrity chef Bobby Flay will launch his first restaurant in Canada with a Bobby's Burgers location in Toronto's The Well. The opening marks the brand's flagship in the country and will feature Flay's signature burgers, fries, and milkshakes. The move is expected to cater to the city's demand for upscale casual dining.
The new Bobby's Burgers will be located inside Wellington Market, the 70,000-square-foot food hall on the ground floor of The Well, a massive mixed-use development at Front and Spadina. The restaurant is slated to open in the summer of 2026 and will occupy the former space of East Tea Can. This Toronto spot will serve as the Canadian flagship for the brand, which currently has 10 locations in the United States. The opening is part of a major Canadian expansion led by franchise partner Falcon Capital Group, with an ambitious plan to open 65 locations across the country. The Bobby's Burgers brand is a revamped concept that evolved from Flay's earlier venture, Bobby's Burger Palace, which he founded in 2008. The original chain, which had up to 19 locations, saw most of its restaurants close during the COVID-19 pandemic. Flay relaunched the streamlined fast-casual concept as Bobby's Burgers in 2021. The menu focuses on made-to-order Angus beef burgers served on brioche buns, including signatures like the Bacon Crunchburger (topped with potato chips and American cheese) and the Nacho Burger. It also features chicken sandwiches, "spoon-bending" milkshakes, and loaded fries. The Well has become a major destination for high-profile international and local food concepts, making it a strategic launchpad for the brand's Canadian debut. Bobby's Burgers will join a roster of over 50 merchants in the Wellington Market, including popular Toronto-based businesses.
