New Aussie debut: MEGA FÄUNA

MEGA FÄUNA released a debut full‑length called softmore today—described as hazy, gentle indie that gives each track room to breathe—and the band already has US and Canada festival slots locked for 2026. Happy Mag flagged softmore as a breakout record to watch as festival season heats up (happymag.tv).

Bandcamp lists softmore with a March 19, 2026 release date and an 11‑track sequence that opens with “lifelike” and closes with “windows down.” (mymegafauna.bandcamp.com) Writing credits on the release name Freyja Fox, Ellen Fitzgibbon, Lily Keenan, Lucy Warriner and Tess Wilkin, with production and mixing credited to Guy Fenech and mastering by George Nicholas. (mymegafauna.bandcamp.com) The record was tracked at Stranded Recording Studio in Bellambi and the Bandcamp page notes the sessions took place on the traditional lands of the Dharawal Wodi Wodi people. (amnplify.com.au) Singles rollout began with “sleep deceit” in October, followed by “lifelike” in January and the recent single “heartbeat” presented as the album’s lead taster. (amnplify.com.au) Press rundowns and the band’s distributor pages cite more than 140,000 Spotify streams to date and list a Sydney launch show at Heaps Normal, Marrickville on April 24, 2026. (amnplify.com.au) Coverage and interviews note the five‑piece draws members from local acts The Buoys, Sweetie, Wiles, Skeleten and Baby Beef, and that the project received support via Sound NSW grants referenced in Happy Mag’s feature.
