TCS, Honeywell Partner on Autonomous Operations

Tata Consultancy Services and Honeywell have partnered to integrate information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) for industrial and logistics clients. The initiative aims to deliver autonomous enterprise operations by combining cloud-native software, AI, and IoT with legacy OT systems. The collaboration will focus on creating adaptive supply chains with capabilities like predictive maintenance and dynamic inventory routing.

- The collaboration centers on integrating Honeywell's Forge platform, an enterprise performance management solution for operational technology (OT), with TCS's IT modernization and cloud consulting services. Honeywell Forge utilizes digital twins, advanced data analytics, and IoT to monitor assets and processes, aiming to achieve peak performance in industrial and building operations. - A primary goal is to create a unified digital foundation that provides real-time visibility and predictive intelligence by enabling the flow of OT data into a company's enterprise IT systems. This addresses the long-standing issue of IT and OT operating in separate, siloed domains. - The joint offering will be rolled out to customers in India first before expanding to other global regions, including the United States and the Middle East, highlighting the strategic importance of the Indian market for enterprise technology solutions. - Key executives driving this partnership include Anupam Singhal, President of Manufacturing at TCS, and Ashish Modi, President of Honeywell India & Asia Pacific. - Beyond industrial and logistics clients, the partnership explicitly targets building operators, aiming to move them from traditional automation to enterprise-wide autonomy. - A crucial component of the integrated solution is the inclusion of Honeywell's OT cybersecurity tools to protect the newly converged IT and OT environments from an expanded landscape of cyber threats. - The technological convergence is facilitated by advancements in 5G connectivity, cloud computing, and AI, which now make the large-scale integration of IT and OT systems more feasible and effective. - For logistics, this partnership builds on Honeywell's existing "Connected Freight" and "Connected Logistics" solutions, which use sensor tags and mobile gateways to provide real-time monitoring of shipments for conditions like temperature, shock, and intrusion.
