Ringo Starr's Country Album
Ringo Starr announced his 22nd solo album "Long Long Road" featuring collaborations with St. Vincent, Sheryl Crow, and others. Produced by T-Bone Burnett, the album marks a return to country/Americana roots, with Starr also embarking on a 12-date tour despite questions about touring at his age.
This isn't Starr's first foray into country music; his second solo album, 1970's "Beaucoups of Blues," was a full-fledged country record recorded in Nashville. That album came about after Starr connected with steel guitarist Pete Drake while George Harrison was recording "All Things Must Pass." The Beatles themselves were heavily influenced by country acts like Carl Perkins. "Long Long Road," set for release on April 24, is Starr's second consecutive country album produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett, following 2025's "Look Up". Burnett, a Grammy-winning producer, is known for his work on iconic Americana soundtracks like "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and albums for artists such as Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and Brandi Carlile. The 10-track album was recorded in both Nashville and Los Angeles and features a core band of musicians handpicked by Burnett. The tracklist includes a cover of "I Don't See Me in Your Eyes Anymore," a song originally recorded by Carl Perkins, one of The Beatles' early heroes. Guest vocalist St. Vincent (Annie Clark) is a Grammy-winning artist known for her own genre-bending work and has previously collaborated with artists like Taylor Swift and David Byrne. Sheryl Crow is also no stranger to collaborations, having worked with a wide range of artists including Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks, and Chris Stapleton. The album's lead single, "It's Been Too Long," features vocals from Molly Tuttle and Sarah Jarosz, two other notable names in the Americana and bluegrass scenes. Starr has also announced a 12-date tour with his All-Starr Band for the spring of 2026, with stops across California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.
