High School Powerlifter Sets PRs

High school athlete Mason Frill hit a PR squat of 370 lbs at 146.2 lbs bodyweight during the State Powerlifting meet at Omaha Central on February 21. Recruit Evan Duke Cazimero also shared three new PRs the same day: back squat 455 lbs, power clean 275 lbs, and hexbar deadlift 605 lbs.

- The meet at Omaha Central on February 21st was the inaugural fully-unified Nebraska High School Powerlifting Federation Championships, for the first time pitting top lifters from all school classes against each other. - This unified format meant athletes competed against the best in the state, regardless of their school's size. - In the girls' division, Grace Wilke set a new state record in the bench press, and Abbie Hankla deadlifted 300 pounds at a bodyweight of just 114 pounds. - The event served as a qualifier for the USAPL High School Nationals, with several athletes earning a spot at the upcoming national competition. - Evan Duke Cazimero is a recognized football recruit from Honolulu, Hawaii, playing the linebacker position. - As a class of 2027 recruit, Cazimero has received offers from several college football programs, including Army, Colorado State, San Diego State, and Washington State. - The North Platte Iron Dawgs girls' powerlifting team secured the state runner-up title at the championship event.
