Texas Tech Sweeps Big 12 Track Championship
Texas Tech claimed the 2026 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships, setting multiple records in the process. The Red Raiders dominated both men's and women's events, with several meet and school records falling across sprints and distance events.
This marks the second consecutive year the Red Raiders have swept the Big 12 indoor team titles. The men's victory is their fourth straight, making them only the second program in conference history to achieve such a streak. The men's team title was a dramatic, down-to-the-wire victory, decided by a single point over Kansas State, 125-124. The women secured their second consecutive championship with 114.5 points, holding off a close challenge from BYU who finished with 110 points. Malachi Snow was the meet's High Point Scorer on the men's side, single-handedly contributing 20 points for the Red Raiders. He claimed victory in both the 60-meter dash with a meet record time of 6.46 seconds and the 60-meter hurdles in a blistering 7.43 seconds. Several other Red Raiders set new benchmarks. Jonathan Seremes not only won the men's triple jump but did so with an NCAA-leading mark of 16.96 meters, a new Big 12 meet record. On the women's side, Tonie-Ann Forbes captured her first Big 12 title in the 60-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 7.91. The dominance was widespread, with Texas Tech men picking up five individual titles. George Garcia won the 600-yard run, and freshman Stephen Mutai took the 800-meter crown. For the women, Ruta Lasmane secured the triple jump title with a leap of 13.79 meters. This latest championship sweep adds to a dominant era for Texas Tech track and field under coach Wes Kittley. The program has now won a total of 18 Big 12 titles under his leadership.
