Blues Live Album Drops

Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar announced their first live album *A Beautiful Buzz* dropping May 22 via Gypsy Soul Records, plus new single "My Crown." The album captures soulful energy from their recent tour and has blues fans excited for the live recording format.

This marks the Toronto-based band's fourth album, but their first live recording, following up 2020's studio effort *The Reckless One*. That album, along with their 2018 release *Run to Me*, both earned the group JUNO Award nominations for Blues Album of the Year. The 11-piece band has a history of major accolades, including 13 Maple Blues Award nominations and a CIMA Road Gold Award for selling over 25,000 tickets in a single year. Their blend of blues, soul, gospel, and rock has also garnered international recognition, with a nomination for International Artist of The Year at the UK Blues Awards. *A Beautiful Buzz* was recorded in 2022 during the band's "Love Is All Around" tour across Western Canada. The tour had been previously postponed due to COVID-era restrictions, creating a highly anticipated series of performances. Adding to the intensity of the tour, frontwoman Samantha Martin was six months pregnant when the shows finally kicked off in November 2022. Martin has said the atmosphere was "electric, filled with a beautiful buzz that I wanted to share." The lead single, "My Crown," is described as a celebration of the resilience and endurance of working bands who face industry challenges like venue closures and the pandemic's impact. The live album is intended to be a statement piece, capturing the raw energy the band is known for on stage. While fans get their first taste of the band's live sound on record, a new studio album is already in the works and planned for a 2027 release.
