Victorinox and JBS USA Announce Partnership

Swiss Army Knife maker Victorinox has formed a strategic partnership with JBS USA, a major food processing company. The collaboration aims to improve operational performance and yield optimization within JBS's food processing facilities, likely leveraging Victorinox's expertise in cutlery and precision tools.

The collaboration will establish a direct purchasing relationship, streamlining the supply chain for the tools used across JBS USA's extensive network. Victorinox will leverage its 90,000-square-foot distribution center in Monroe, Connecticut, to provide tailored support and ensure consistent in-stock availability for each processing plant. For JBS USA, the world's largest protein producer, this partnership is a key step in its commitment to operational excellence and maximizing yields at the plant level. The company has been focused on enhancing efficiency through portfolio optimization and increasing carcass yield, and this collaboration aims to equip its workforce with best-in-class tools to achieve these goals. The partnership will focus heavily on Victorinox's professional-grade cutlery, which is specifically designed for the demanding environment of meat processing. These knives feature high-quality, durable materials and ergonomic, non-slip handles, like those in their Fibrox Pro line, which are built for safety, precision, and to reduce worker fatigue during long shifts. A core component of the agreement involves joint innovation on new product development tailored to modern food processing needs. This aligns with previous forward-thinking concepts from JBS procurement, such as a "knife-as-a-service" model where suppliers maintain ownership and are paid per cut, incentivizing the creation of more durable, longer-lasting blades. Ulrich Wohn, President of Victorinox North America, stated that partnering with a global industry leader like JBS is the "logical next step in terms of product development and maximizing the lifetime value of each and every knife." Jerson Nascimento, Chief Procurement Officer for JBS USA, emphasized that the collaboration brings together two companies dedicated to quality and innovation. He noted the goal is to strengthen JBS's ability to "deliver best-in-class tools with an aim toward maximizing yields at the plant level."
