CLAY LA returns to Los Angeles this weekend, with Craft Contemporary opening its ninth annual ceramic marketplace on Friday, April 24. (craftcontemporary.org) The event starts with a Preview Night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at Craft Contemporary, 5814 Wilshire Blvd., with tickets priced at $20 for the public and $15 for members. (craftcontemporary.org) The market then runs Saturday, April 25, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with $9 museum admission, and Sunday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with pay-what-you-wish entry. (craftcontemporary.org) Craft Contemporary bills CLAY LA as its signature ceramic marketplace and fundraiser, pairing sales with live music, refreshments, and hands-on clay activities in the museum’s outdoor courtyard. (craftcontemporary.org) The museum says the event brings together emerging and established ceramic artists from across Los Angeles, and PBS SoCal listed it this week as one of the region’s featured arts picks. (craftcontemporary.org) (pbssocal.org) This year’s vendor list includes more than 30 makers and studios, including Angel Prudencio, Chunmei Ceramics, Greg Lowe Arts, People’s Pottery Project, Tierra del Sol, and Yunting Ceramics. (craftcontemporary.org) Craft Contemporary has also scheduled free drop-in air-dry clay activities from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the market weekend, with materials donated by Laguna Clay & Glaze Co. (craftcontemporary.org) An opportunity drawing will feature selected works from participating artists, with one free entry included for Preview Night ticket holders and additional entries sold on site for $5 each. (craftcontemporary.org) The museum says winners will be contacted on April 29 and must pick up prizes in person rather than by shipment. (craftcontemporary.org) For a city that treats weekend art shopping as a contact sport, CLAY LA’s pitch is simple: meet the potters, handle the work, and take something home before the tables clear on Sunday.
