Knueppel Sets NBA Three-Point Record
Rookie Kon Knueppel has become the fastest player to reach 200 three-pointers in NBA history, with SportsCenter highlighting his historic performance. The milestone showcases the increasing emphasis on three-point shooting in modern NBA play.
Knueppel shattered the previous record for reaching 200 three-pointers, accomplishing the feat in just 58 games. This performance significantly outpaced the prior record holder, Duncan Robinson, who took 69 games to reach the same milestone. The Charlotte Hornets rookie is shooting an impressive 44.2% from beyond the arc this season. A product of Duke, Knueppel was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft and has quickly established himself as one of the league's elite shooters. His historic pace also saw him become the fastest player to 100 made threes earlier in the season, hitting that mark in just 29 games. For perspective on his rapid ascent, Stephen Curry, widely considered the greatest shooter in NBA history, took 99 games to make his first 200 three-pointers. Knueppel and Keegan Murray are the only players to have reached this milestone during their rookie seasons. The rookie is now on pace to break the all-time record for three-pointers made by a rookie, which is currently held by Keegan Murray with 206. With 23 games still remaining on the Hornets' schedule, Knueppel is expected to comfortably surpass that record.
