Just Women's Sports Launches New Soccer Podcast

Just Women's Sports has launched a new weekly soccer podcast titled 'Time Wasting'. The show is hosted by global soccer stars Kelley O’Hara and Ali Riley. It will feature insider analysis, tactical breakdowns, and stories from their careers.

Just Women's Sports was founded in 2020 by former Stanford and professional soccer player Haley Rosen to address the disparity in media coverage, where women's sports historically received only about 4% of attention. The company has raised a total of $9.5 million across two funding rounds. A $6 million round in 2022 was led by Blue Pool Capital, the family office of Alibaba co-founder Joe Tsai, and included investors like Billie Jean King, Kevin Durant's Thirty Five Ventures, and Drive by DraftKings. This move comes as the women's sports market is experiencing explosive growth, with one projection estimating its global value could reach $256.67 billion by 2030. In the U.S., media coverage for women's sports has reportedly jumped to 15%, a significant increase from previous years. Host Kelley O’Hara is not just an investor in Just Women's Sports, but also previously hosted the platform's "Players' Pod" podcast. Her career includes two FIFA World Cup titles, an Olympic gold medal, and an NWSL championship, where she scored the game-winning goal in the 2021 final. Co-host Ali Riley captains the New Zealand national team and has played in five World Cups and four Olympic Games. Her extensive professional career includes league championships in the U.S. and Sweden, with stints at top clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich. The podcast reunites former teammates; O'Hara and Riley played together for FC Gold Pride in the now-defunct Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league, winning the league championship in 2010.
