Collective Arts Incubator Launches in Los Angeles
A new collaborative venue and incubator, the Collective Arts Incubator (CAI), has opened in Los Angeles. The multi-use space is designed to support emerging artists, independent art practices, and creative small businesses. CAI aims to foster community-driven art through participatory projects and independently produced events.
- The Incubator is located at 1200 N Ave 54 in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, housed in a 1920s Art Deco-style storefront. - The space is a multi-use venue that includes a main gallery with 10-foot ceilings, a stage, a library, and outdoor courtyards available for events and performances. - One of the co-founders, Josh Swick, has a background in film production and real estate management, with studies at Emerson College and Le Cordon Bleu. - In a commitment to support emerging artists, the Incubator has a policy of not charging commissions on artworks sold during its events. - The venue is also home to the Vintage Synthesizer Museum and the KSwick_Collection Gallery, adding to its diverse range of creative offerings. - Upcoming programming includes a design showcase for the Los Angeles Design Weekend, featuring installations by 18 artists and designers. - The Incubator offers creative workspaces for various small businesses, which have previously included private artist studios and hair salons. - Past exhibitions, such as "Support Structures" and "Garden Party," have featured Los Angeles-based artists exploring themes like societal frameworks and the natural environment through various media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and video.
